Upon enrolment, students will have up to two years to study the BDIA Certificate: Introduction to Dentistry course before they sit the final exam.
The exam is multiple choice format, and students have 90 minutes to complete it. In the latest version of the course there are 11 modules to study and all 11 will be tested on.
Students are required to achieve 60% to pass the exam. A Distinction will be awarded to those achieving 80% or more. Students who successfully complete the exam will receive a certificate by post. Those who fail to pass can re-sit the exam at a cost of £75 for member companies and £150 for non-member companies, but will not be able to achieve a distinction.
Online exams (coming soon)
The BDIA is currently in the process of transferring our paper based examinations to an online digital equivalent. The BDIA will update this area with information when this service is available shortly.
BDIA Certificate exams are held every spring and autumn (usually in May and November). We will be looking to extend the examination timetable across the year and at some new venues, so watch this space for information.
Students are advised to book at least a month before the exam date to secure a place, please contact us for bookings.
Exam cancellations due to COVID 19
Due to current circumstances around COVID-19, the BDIA has, unfortunately, had to postpone our May exam date. We are monitoring the situation closely and we will be looking to organise a replacement date in due course. In the meantime, we are looking to move our exams to an online format in the coming months, further information on this will be updated here shortly.
